Yeah a bit sore today... - Sunday 1 July

I've been a bit of a whimp for the last week.  As you know I've done my ankle and found out that it's the ligament that runs onthe inside of my leg so I didn't do a traditional 'roll' of the ankle more a squash inside of everything that is there so having done that it's pulling in quite a few areas and making it sore to weight bear for long periods of time in some places.

I am having trouble with doing some walking as when I go on the ball of my foot it pulls there too and twisting - well yeah we won't go there.  Even getting out of the car is difficult as you out of habit put your foot down and pivot on it, so I need to pivot my whole body which can be interesting too when your parked in a car park and the person next to you is parked so close they should leave a can opener to make sure you have access next time.

I went to the physio on Friday for a review as my ankle didn't feel too bad but I wasn't expecting her to say I think you should have another week off.  I don't know how I feel about that.  Happy that I get a rest but I'm starting to feel a bit out of sorts not doing all the Zumba.

I have however as I stated earlier been a bit of a whimp and haven't been too quick to jump on the 'what else can I do bandwagon...' I'm naughty I know but I'm really scared I'm going to do something and 'ping' something will happen.  So I decided yesterday being Saturday I would go to the gym and give a few things a go.

I went onto the bike for 10 mins for a warm up which felt alright and it actually felt like it loosened up my leg a bit so that was good.  I did some upper body work on the machines that were there and attempted to do some other movements which my fab PT has shown me.  I also did a fair amount of crunches and yeah I'm feeling them today.  A last blast on the bike for 20 mins and I was powering it home.  I was really struggling to burn the calories today being a toning based thing so I thought I would stay till I had at least done 500 calories.  I finished the day with 535 so I was happy with that!  That's a quiet Zumba class for me.

As I have taken the road less travelled I have had to make sure that my food intake is clean and 100% as you can't have your cake and eat it too - however I can't have any cake because I don't have any spare calories for the cake so I'm being good and hoping that the scales pay off for me next week.  I also I guess quietly am glad that I have been home as I have had at least 2 calls all before 11.30am to 'come and get my son' so I would not have been able to attend the two gym classes I would normally have taken.

This is proabably doing the whole 'phew I'm glad that came up it means I don't have to work out'!  Usually it means 'bugger' now when am I going to find the time to do it but I'm just happy for the moment that I have the ability to collect him from school.  It's an external excuse which we need to deal with next term.....

Last night I also discovered spotify where I can get a lot of music and so managed to download about 2 hours worth of music and an hour worth of zumba stuff so that's great for me.  My ankle was quite sore by the end of the evening so I didn't know if I had over worked it too much on the bike I'm just not sure but by sunday morning (as with most things it felt fine) But the rest of me ---- oh a different story...

My arms are quite sore today like I have been rowing across to china and my bum I can literally feel the bones in there.  I said to a girlfriend 'you know how you think you can feel bones' she just laughed at me.  I know there are bones in your bum but usually I've had way too much padding previously to worry about bones in my bum!

Have contacted a friend of mine who is a PT to see what she can recommend for me to do for the cardio days so I'm not on a bike for the rest of my days.

I'm not allowed to Zumba for another week so missing it terribly and it's also school holidays starting here so that will be interesting juggling children and the gym.  We shall see how I go!
