Fitness in the City - 9th February

Adelaide City Council are running in conjuction with a local gym free fitness classes on a Thursday night ontop of the Tuesday Night Zumba classes!  I wasn't sure what to expect so I went along hoping to smash some calories!

I think I was a little 'unprepared' for what I expected as I really struggled with a few things but overall I enjoyed it and had a laugh with some others that were all in the same boat.  A lot like the 1st PT session I did there were stations with various activities and a few PT's moving around checking technique etc.  It was quite a full on session as we had to run a lap in between each station and there were sooo many people there will all ranges of fitness.  For once I wasn't the slowest but I tell you I wasn't far from it but that's ok we all have to start somewhere!!!

I managed to smash 365 calories which I felt was a really poor effort so figured I needed to go for a walk when I got home.

I had to walk to my managers house to return something and she was a 4km round trip so I included that for my facebook dedication walk

Zumba ~ 7th February

Adelaide City Council are doing FREE Zumba sessions in the city from 5.40pm so I thought WOO HOO.  I love Zumba and even better I love FREE!!! (giggle you all know me very well)!

It was quite busy but full of energetic people.  I noticed Amanda Blair- fiveaa was there and quite a few video camera's.

Apparently Jane Riley (channel 10 news) was also there and did a live cross feed.  I was up towards the back so I wasn't on the news but I was in the back ground while they were interviewing Amanda I'm all in black with red hair lining up waiting to sign up.

Woo Hoo I'm famous LOL.  Had I had known there was a camera I would have waved!!!

I burnt 442 calories which I was sooo happy with as it was only a 30 minute session but we were right into it and most people had good direction and most importantly a LAUGH!!!

Hopefully the link to the video works and you can see me at the 43 second mark!  If it doesn't play for you here - Click on the title it will take you to their web page and you can view it there!

Facebook Challenge - 6th February

I forgot to write about this earlier so thought I'd add it in here now... -

Inspired by another 12wbt member who put up their own challenge I decided to follow suit - I wrote =

"You have 24 hours to like this comment and for everyone that does I will walk 1 km in your honour, I will do this before 1st March"

I posted it at 7.30pm on Sunday 29th and so closed at Monday 30th Jan.  Monday morning I did a repost just in case anyone didn't see it the first time.  I realised after I posted it that I do have approx 300 friends so I could be in a world of trouble and pain but took it as a challenge!  I got 57 likes and a few who did a double likes - I know who all you cheeky people are!!!

So on Tuesday 31st Jan I started the challenge.  I am aiming to walk approx 2 - 3 kms each day as this should secure me my challenge in time!  Hmmm I just realised and perhaps a bit clever of me (I didn't put in there what would happen if I DIDN'T do the challenge.... hmmm now who's being cheeky)!!???

So if you see me pounding the pavement smile hopefully your name is on my list and that's the day that I am doing your walk!

Although I previously walked up Mt Lofty I didn't count it towards any kms goal but I did dedicate it to two VERY close and personal friends who have both just lost a parent.  I am heart broken for each of them.  I posted my dedication on my facebook wall and they were touched.  I cried more at the fact that they were happy that I did it, even though I was proabably also crying that I was in a world of pain!

Overview -
Tuesday 31st Jan - Walked 2 kms -  for Rebecca Dyer & Faye Bishop
(then I had a bit of a break as my leg's weren't working all that well from Lofty LOL)
Monday 6th Feb - Walked 2 kms - Ali Nicholson & Ngala Cox

PT Session - 4th February

Today I met up with some other SA 12wbt's for a PT session with one of our own SA Crew now a qualified trainer!  It was great meeting everyone once I found them all (I got a bit lost - which is nothing unusual for me).

We were put through out paces and worked through different stations with different exercises at each one.  I got to the burpee's station and had a mini panic attack I attempted one nearly killed myself - stood up and went HOW does she do these?  Everyone knew I was talking about Hoffy a very popular and successful 12wbt!  It was also really amazing how we were given options of low impact options to do for some exercises.  Each station was only 30 seconds so we made sure we pushed ourselves HARD.

I forgot my strap for my Heart Rate Monitor so I have no idea of the calories burnt but someone said they did 312 and I was huffing and puffing at the end so I'll take that!

There were also some nice eye candy with a local footy club training nearby and thanks to the complete stranger who we stopped to take a photo for us!

We also did a fast walk up the Seacliff Stairs, most of us were too excused to keep going at it so at least I did it once and so now I can put it 'on my list' to go back and tackle it one day!

Mt Lofty - 1st February

For anyone who lives in Adelaide knows all too well about 'Mt Lofty'.  I woke up one morning after chatting to some people online inspired by all their healthy adventures that I too would climb Mt Lofty!  I must have been completely crazy to think that without any training I could do this, but figured how hard could it be? People do it all the time...

I notice on the sign 2.5 hour return - hmmm that's alright I think.... oh boy was I wrong....

I met up with 3 others from an online forum and we met to climb Lofty on Wednesday 1st Feb @ 9.30am.  Two super fit bunny's bounced ahead of us and myself with another girl took our time slowly going up.  I had barely started when I seriously felt like coughing up a lung!

It took 2 hours and 19 minutes to climb that mountain and then it took another 1 hour and 20 odd minutes to come down the thing with my jelly legs, but I am so glad that I did it!!!

Here are the tables that I am sure are for self sacrific they are about half way up the moutain which is right before it gets really hard.........

These seats are everywhere and I think I sat on everyone!!! I needed to check out their stability of course....

Not that you can get lost but there are many markers on the track just when you think you are doing awesome you look and see this marker and go 'OMG I still have a long way to go....." LOL

At least I now have a bench mark of time and know what is in store for me.  I will go back one day to do it again!  I got super sunburnt as it was an overcast day and I was a bit stiff and sore for the next three days but surprisingly I was still able to walk!

Crack of Arse Training

I follow a range of people on facebook and one is Amelia Burton who is a fitness and health guru.  She posted 'Let's Have a Crack of Arse Challenge - train between 5am - 7am and post a picture".  Errr there's a 5am in the morning now???

Well I thought "I'm a Warrior, however I'm the BEST sleeping Warrior there is LOL", but now I need to be an Active Warrior!!!  So I got up at 6am... (yes there is a 6am in the morning now..... OMG).... and I did it for a week and I took photo's.   Some of you might know how 'Wacky' I am so I decided to make the challenge a bit of fun so I didn't get bored and well here is what happened....

Day 1 - I got up at 5.55am and was out the door by 6.05am.  It was super dark that morning so I took a photo and Amelia said on her facebook page I looked like a rockstar.  Yeah I'm sure they all feel like they have been hit by a mack truck being up at 6am too!

Day 2 - Got up about 6.10am LOL yeah I'm getting slow already and went for a big walk - finally ended up down to the train station (as yo can see the sun was up by the time I got there) and decided (wackily) T is for Tuesday it's also for Train's so CLICK, photo time! LOL

Day 3 - Up Earlier today and out the door by 6.05 again went for a walk down to the local swimming pool.  W is for Walking with Water to the Water!  I was going to be climbing Mt Lofty that morning and I didn't want to get too tired!

Day 4 - Barely got out of bed this morning having done Lofty yesterday and think I left most of my legs on the mountain!!!  So just a basic walk today but I was still up.  Decided that Th was for Thursday so I walked around a few streets and found THree THirty Letterboxes... (hey do you think that logically at 6am)??? LOL   (My camera wasn't working so I had to go back after school drop off to one of the letterboxes to get a photo)

Day 5 - Literally fell out of bed with a THUMP!  Oh boy legs are still sore from Lofty!  Walked over to the local shopping ctr - 2 kms return trip just so I could take this photo!  LOL.  Hoorah Challenge Over!  And surprisingly I'm alive......

It certainly has been a fun challenge and no doubt soon I will needing to be up at 6am again as I'm back to work and will be finding it hard to find time to train plus if you do it first thing then it's done for the day!!!

I am a Warrior!

I have decided it's time to find my inner Warrior and start on the Weight Loss Journey!

As you can see the Gorgeous Tiffany Hall - Ninja and trainer from the Biggest Loser.  I got to meet her and once again was inspired to begin the weight loss journey.
Signed Book
Now I am in NO delisions that I am a Ninja except if I can be Naughty Ninja (20% of the time) and I'm certainly not going to be running around screaming "I am a Warrior" (they might lock me up) but I am looking to dig deep and find that 'can do' attitude and stamina to just keep going.

Be a Warrior who keeps going and doesn't give up.
