International Women's Day - Thurs 8th March

Today is International Women's Day and although I have seen some reports on the news and on the net I haven't really paid all that much attention to it until I started getting all the SMS from shops offering specials for the day.  It was great to get these SMS because I headed off shopping to check a few of them out.

Lorna Jane were offering instore samples and other bits and pieces but no discounts on their clothing (unless you spent over $150) but Rebel Sport offered 20% off all women's clothing!  Bargain!  I have been eyeing off a lot of these clothes for a while and only 4 weeks ago tried some on and they didn't fit so I figured 'oh well, one day (like everything else)'.  I was so surprised and happy to find out that they fitted so I snapped them up!  Don't they took great!!!

I used the excuse that I was still in birthday mode and that my mum was going to be buying me these clothes - after all I am helping her by taking the stress out of shopping for me! Tee Hee!

Early that morning I did a PT session with my very good friend Rosemary who I have met through my 12WBT she runs me through my paces for sure and I didn't complain once.  She tells me I was a PT's dream I just kept breathing (which trust me that's important LOL).  I had to laugh at times I think a bit too literal... Rosemary grabbed a bench and put two big weights ontop of it and said 'move the bench' and I said "where"? "From here to down there" I look at the bench and think how do I pick this thing up? She could barely pick up the weight that she put ontop how do I move it "Errrrr" I say... she laughes and tell's me that "you push it".  OMG hello!!!!  Wake up, why didn't I think of that seriously!!! So I push this thing down and up, and then again and then that was alright but then I had to do it again, and again, with other stuff inbetween and by about the 4th time of pushing this thing I think I was ready to have a hernia! LOL

I also worked with a medicine ball which I have never done before either so that was really interesting.  Found out where my weak muscle spots are as I felt them straight away I think I'm going to be sore tomorrow!!!  But it's all good!!!

I will definately go back to have it out with that bench again one day.  It's good to know there are some things you can do 'outside of the box' which aren't just getting on a treadmill or bike.

Oh nearly forgot the best bit!  At the end of the workout Rosemary did some stretches of my muscles and they are always better than the stretches that you can do yourself.  She tells me what I should feel and for some I ask for some more pressure as I don't feel anything so it's good that I'm honest.  After the stretches I get a back massage...ahhhhh heaven!!! I'd come back to a PT session just for that!!!!

Happy Birthday to Me! - Wed 7th March

Hoorah!!! Today is my birthday so excited for the day!  Today is the first birthday for a while that I've been excited about as I'm getting fit and healthy and have made sure I have a great day today!

I had started out going to go for a Beach Walk with Heather but her car wasn't in working order so she couldn't make it (and she lives too far away for me to go and get her) so I decided you know what I'm a big girl now I can do it on my OWN.  I'm determined to do this and also do a PB!  And a PB is EXACTLY what I did!!!!  I took 1 hour 43 minutes!  I had my Ipod cranking the tunes and power walking away.  I would see some people ahead and me and then think ok all I have to do is beat them and eventually I would over take them and then find my next lot to overtake.

I got a call early that morning from a very dear friend Helen who suggested we have lunch as she saw that my friend Heather couldn't come so that was so lovely and motivated me even more to make sure I went really fast!  It was a lovely lunch I ordered a warm chicken salad and we chatted away!

Couldn't resist taking this picture of one of the many pieces of art that is along the walking path - this guy offered to share his fish and chips with me but I refused! LOL

As lunch wasn't too far away from Harbour Town I thought I should go and just visit Lorna Jane so I can do some drooling and maybe try on a few things to see how much further I have to go until I own some of these.  It is one of my goals!  I tried on two tops that grabbed my attention straight away and they fit!!! OMG Happy Dance so excited!!! Happy Birthday to me indeed LOL!

For dinner as a family we went to Hogs Breath for dinner which was really exciting and I had been thinking about it all day they have the best steaks! I ate the steak and salad but none of the curly fries I didn't ask for them not to put them on my plate as I figured everyone else would eat them and they did.

If you tell them it's your birthday you get a free piece of mud cake which we all shared as a family which was great because I was really happy just to have a taste of it.  So here it was and then about 20 seconds later - there it was.... tee hee!

I took this photo of the stairs as we were leaving and said you get the workout to get up there to start with so hopefully that's a few less calories burnt off before you climb the stairs!

A great day for my birthday!

Combat Madonna LOL ~ Tues 6th March

Tonight I am going to do Body Combat which I haven't done in such a long time.  I use to do it a fair bit when I was at my old gym and funny enough with the same instructor that's going to do it tonight too - Kym.  Kym is a a machine he seems to have endless energy I gave him a picture of the energizer bunny lifting weights.  He laughed and said he loved it!

Tonight is a special body combat class as its a dress up 'release your inner rock star' to help raise money for Kym and his efforts in raising money for 'World's Greatest Shave'.  I think about rock stars and some reason I think of Madonna I also googled 'rock star' and her picture was one of the first few to pop up so I thought right - 1980's black goth type Madonna LOL.

I had a lot of fun sorting out my outfit which really wasn't all that much effort most of what I needed I found in op shops which was a lot of fun.  Of course I just had to buy a pair of lace gloves!!!

I had to laugh at myself when I rocked up - most people were dressed in 'heavy metal type rock star' so Metallica tshirts, Guns N Rose's etc, OMG someone kill me!  I had the most oddest looks from people while getting changed and I had to keep saying 'it's for fundraising' oh yep cool... hmmm do they think I dress like this to work out???

I was so happy to have also smashed 650 calories in this class it was so great.  I still can't do a backwards kick to save my life and probably some of my uppercuts were hilarious to watch but I worked away with everyone else.

Of course just an hour before this class I did Zumba with David and smashed out 654 calories in that so a super happy day with many calories GONE!

Zumba Gold ~ Mon 5th March

Today I did Zumba Gold with my very best friend 'A'.  I didn't realise that anyone could attend these Zumba classes especially to help you learn the basics so  found it very helpful.  My friend said that she still really struggled to go through the motions mostly as it's morning and she felt like she had zero energy so that was fine as I said to her you gave it a go - well done!  We get to chat to the instructors at the end of the class and get a few more ideas about things.  I express how I can glad to get some more of the basics down because as I was listening to the music I could understand how the basics then evolve into the bigger movements.  I wouldn't mind going to another class at some stage.

I did laugh quite a lot at myself because I was going on some auto pilot for some songs and then realised that this class isn't as advanced as I am use to and also couldn't see to work out my left from right.  I had a fun time and so glad that I could laugh at myself, especially after my breakdown the other day I am surprised that I didn't crack the shits and walk out!

I still managed to burn 432 calories which I was impressed with especially with the low impact movemements.

After Zumba A & I get to go and have a coffee around the corner and chat up a storm and really talk about the emotional rollercoaster of this new journey we are both on!  We talk about the fact that we are very similar in that something just seemed to have 'clicked' in our heads saying now is the time to start.  Unlike all the other times we have started a 'diet' it's about being ready emotionally for the journey and putting into place positive choices for us.

As the picture has here - I am glad that we have started NOW so we can't look back in time and say 'I wish I did start back then'!

Emotional Day ~ Sat 3rd March

Today was a VERY emotional day!  I cried nearly all the way through the PT session.  It's only my second sesson with Mica so I'm sure she thought I had lost the plot.  I started there were energetic but it really was a case of 'mind over matter' failure.

The session started out pretty well with some hill runs, the hill doesn't look that steep until your half way up!  I was able to complete these without too much bother which really made me happy, a real sense of acomplishment!

We had to do step ups on the park bench and as I soon as I looked at it I thought 'that's too high' so instantly that was my undoing!  It took all my strength and PUSHING through my legs just to do these.  Also having to engage your core which is also a new concept but something to work on.  I got through two step ups and 5 squats in the middle and then went to move onto my step set of step ups.  I already felt like I had zero energy and my foot hit the bottom of the step and I just broke into tears.

I walked away to get some air.  Although I was wearing sunglasses and had shed a tear or two before it's easy enough to hide behind sunglasses but a complete mental breakdown is not.  Mica came over to me and I just let it all out saying 'I'm sick and tired, of being hopeless.  I'm sick and tired of being overweight and I can never seem to do anything the same as others, I can't keep up with other's and I have no co-ordination.  I know it all takes practice but I'm over it"!

I don't usually compare myself with other's as I will fall short every time but still would like to think that I could be at least in the same ballpark somewhere with keeping up - even if I am left field.... LOL

It was a big emotional release and I really felt that I just needed to get it out!  I kept apologising and saying I'm obviously completely rambling, but Mica said she understood and even has some clients that just say 'no' when she tells them to do something at least I was giving everything a go!

Mica was able to adapt some other exercises for me, lunges and squats so I could still work the same muscles which was great I powered through these as I didn't want to let her or myself down.  We then did a follow the leader type thing and I thought yep zig zag jogging ok no probs.  However my legs were already like jelly and so I started running and I felt so heavy so just couldn't get it all together and so I had another cry!

It was my turn to take the lead of the group but I refused because I couldn't even catch the group and I didn't want people to be slowed down because of me as they are there for a workout so Mica just let me jog around on my own I tried my hardest through the tears.

I know that emotions are high and mostly due to hormones as it's nearly 'that time of the month' and part of me was just waiting for the PT to say it's ok why don't you sit down for a bit and and I'm glad that I kept going.  Even thought towards the end of the session I was just walking around to keep moving.  The whole session is still a bit of a blur I honestly couldn't think straight I honestly didn't know if I wanted to sit down, I think I kept walking around hoping to outwalk it!

I did make mention of it to some facebook people and they said think about what else you can do except cry next time but I think when you are in that head space you can't think of what else you can do and I really feel at the time I just had to have a cry and let it out.  I got to have a good chat to the PT at the end to proove that I wasn't a complete looney just 'having a bad day'!

With every breakdown comes a breakthrough.

Beach Bash ~ Fri 2nd March

Signed up to do the Henley Beach Bash 2012.  Only found out about it on Monday when I was doing the beach walk with Heather so went onto the website end entered both myself and hubby after Heather said her and hubby were doing it together!

It's only a distance of 4kms and it's either a run or a walk - hey I figure we walk 12kms on our own beach walk so 4kms should be easy!  I sign up hubby and then tell him later tee hee.  There is a fee of $10 each but that's ok as its a community fundraiser.  I sign up hoping that I will get my own number to attach to my shirt!

We register and get our numbers written on our arm so I'm dissapointed that I don't have a marathon type number for my shirt but that's ok as you can see from my pic I have a 'W' as I'm a walker.

We line up near the start and although we are in the mass of runners no doubt we don't want to disadvantage ourselfs too much from being behind the pack.

We race off and hubby is with me supporting me all the way he helps me to find the patches of sand which are harder than others cause most of the sand is so slippery and it's really hard walking through.  Although it might only be 4kms I feel like I am working twice as hard.  Hubby works out based on our last Beach Walk PB that if we keep up the same pace then we should do this in approx 36 minutes I think cool that sounds alright I'm ready to smash it.

The more and more I walk the harder it seems to get and I see a few people passing us and when I look we are only 2kms in and already we can see the first lot of runners coming back from the first Jetty! Hmmmm ok.

I decided that it doesn't matter what time I do I just don't want to be last and I keep that little mantra up to myself, keep on swimming, swimming, swimming (well walking) and also just don't be last.

We finish with a time of 45 minutes woo hoo with hubby at my side I'm so excited.  We finish just a second before Heather and her partner and then there are 3 girls still behind us to finish.  How amazing I did it!!!  As you can see this little kid who was behind us ran straight past us - cheeky bugger (reminded me of those older ladies on the beach walk LOL)

The top photo is the offically pic that I pulled off their website.
This picture is one that we 'set' up after the event so then hubby didn't run ahead and get a better time than me lol.  We crossed the line together although they wrote down that he was faster than me!
I smashed 601 calories for this which is also just amazing as it was hard going on that sand.  There were so many holes from where all the runners and walkers had been ahead of us and churned it all up before.
Oh and also to make this day super happy - this morning at Zumba I did a PB thus smashing 722 calories!  I'm so happy also Kylie gives me a phamplet for the other classes she runs at other locations.  I am so happy as I'm loving Zumba so to now know there are a few other classes out there I'm so happy!  It's only $5 a class too - super happy!

Frustrated - Thursday 1st March

I wanted to post tonight even though I am a bit peeved / frustrated with myself.

I went to Zumba at the gym really excited as I love Zumba but it's with a new instructor.  Firstly the guy at reception told me the wrong studio so I nearly missed the start of it.  This class was quite packed too it I was lucky to get a spot in the fourth row which made it extremely difficult to see a lot of the instructors feet.

After two warm up songs I was sweating a fair bit but really struggling to keep up with a lot of people.  By mid way through I was so fed up that I just had to leave before I cracked the shits.  I had only burnt 201 calories for 30 minutes of work and this is really unusual as its the same conditions are before but I'm frustrated with the fact that I can't see well and also the routine seems to chop and change around so much there is no set easy to follow rules so to speak.

Following Mish's 10 minute rule if you give it a go and after 10 minutes you still really don't feel like doing it then she gives us permission to leave.  I do feel really bad but I honestly just mentally can't stay there or I feel like I'm going to hit something!  I also just want to cry as I feel that I've let myself down but I feel that I have done the right thing.

Looking back (cause hindsight is always wonderful isn't it) I probably should have chosen FitBox as it's a class that really helps to smash up the calories but oh well.

I think the most important fact about today is that I was upset and frustrated and so when I came home I didn't eat or drink anything naughty.  I didn't fall into the bottom of the biscuit barrell or the never ending packet of Tim Tam's. I figure that it would only lead to feeling worse and really dreading the next workout as I'd have even more calories to burn off!

Weigh In ~ Wed 29th Feb

Woo Hoo Weigh In day is finally here!  I can't wait to see my results. Come in double digits... come in spinner.... I weigh.... look down and WOO HOO a lose of 2.5kgs! OMG WOO HOO I'm doing a happy dance!!!

I have worked so hard this week I'm sure yesterday's big 'last chance workout' helped to bring that number to light.

But no rest for the wicked and it's off to Zumba again today with Dave this time a 11.20am class.  I don't burn as much as yesterday but still really happy with my efforts.

In the evening I go to a new class called Dance Funk and although I have my new dance shoes now I didn't enjoy the class as much as I expected as the regular instructor is away she has broken her ankle! Ouch!

Race home to see Mish's live feed video and although I posted a question she didn't get time to answer it but the support team sent me an answer later on which was good.

Then I raced out the door to meet my friend Anne for Zumba @ Glitz.  I am really enjoying going with a friend it makes me accountable to go and also we get to have a bit of a laugh together!

Looking forward to the week now after such a great weight loss!!!

Tough Tuesday ~ Tues 28th Feb

Today I woke up with Zero energy!  Also because DD12 is away on camp we didn't have our usual go go in the morning which was a nice change.

I really don't feel like going to the gym today however I need to just go into robot mode and JFDI.   I have booked it in as my workout so I need to suck it up and just go.  This is the workout that I picked and if I don't do a workout when else will I get to do one?  So I'm off to Fit Box and I had the best session ever!!!  I met a girl who is also new to the gym and so we partnered up and laughed a lot during the session how we couldn't work out our left from our right!  It was great.  I smashed through 579 calories I am sooo happy that I JFDI!  It's true noone ever regret's a workout!

Oh in Fitbox Tim is really strict. He is obviously trained in Martial Arts.  He explains to us that he will never show the low impact option as then people will take the easy road and if you really need a low impact option then people are smart enough to work it out for themselves. Also inbetween partner sparring rounds we have to do group exercises which are a full minute each.  Not 58 seconds not 59 seconds until he saids STOP then you keep going.  If one person breaks it then you start the minute over again.  Today was a killer we were doing squats and at the 58 second mark someone stood up so we had to do it again! Oh boy what a work out!  Now I get why people on the Biggest Looser get so frustrated if someone 'break's' form'.

I posted on Michelle Bridges Facebook page and she wrote a reply ~ WOO HOO!

Feeling full of energy in the evening and hubby got home early so I raced up to the gym for Zumba.  I'm so glad that I did because I did a PB and smashed 719 calories.  Boy that was a sweaty workout but it was great.  I'm learning a lot of the steps really quickly but I notice that Dave does a lot of routines different to others so everyone is different.

What was even nicer was a compliment I received tonight when I checked in at the gym. Oli one of the guys on the desk said 'wow your dedicated, weren't you in my fitbox class this morning'?  Oh yeah I was sorry I was sweating so much and trying to work out my own left from right I don't pay too much attention to who is in the class.  How lovely to get a compliment that someone see's that I'm working hard!  I'm sure that helped me get my PB!

Mmm Monday ~ Mon 27th Feb

Monday is here!!! Normally I'm not a fan of Monday's but today I get to do a BEACH WALK! WOO HOO!  I also get to go with Heather again and we have also planned to have lunch at the end so a lovely little treat and also some more time to talk if we have any more energy tee hee!

Today we are women on a mission and we are looking for a PB.  We have the power to do it and know now NOT to walk through any water puddles!  The above photo I thought would be good to take from the 'other' side LOL.  This is the Glenelg Jetty which some weeks keeps getting further and further away!

We power through those 12kms like legends and DO a PB of 1.44. 03.  Hoorah!  I noticed however I only smashed through 877 calories - oh no I must be getting fitter LOL.  I will have to 'bring' it next time.

I take a few photo's this time of things that I find funny.   The first is that someone has lost their key's and someone's hung them here.  We just left them hopefully the owner will come back looking for them.

Also these signs are everywhere and I do understand that they meant this is a shared path for bikes and walking but as I'm so exhausted my mind is a bit warped and I think 'look out for loose bike's you will expected to jump over them' LOL.

Oh and I took this photo because as we were walking and nearly power walking at this point to make sure that we got a PB these three ladies came out of no where and overtook us!  We couldn't believe it, so we decided that they only started at Glenelg and when they get to Brighton then they are going to turn around and go back!  LOL.

After our walk we sit down and enjoy a lovely lunch - fish with salad.  I took a photo also because it highlights a few things and important changes for the both of us.  Firstly on the menu it was 'Battered Garfish with Chips and a small side salad' so we said can we have the fish grilled (1 point for us) then can you please hold the chips (1 point for us) so then they offer to double the salad (1 point for us) oh can you please put the salad dressing on the side (1 point for us).

It was so yummy.  We also got served a massive bowl of homemade tartar sauce which I had a small scraping off but the lemon also brought out the flavour in the fish.  I'm not a huge fish eater usually but this was really tasty and it just goes to show after such a small time how my taste buds are changing and adapting to new foods.

This beach walk ends my Facebook Dedication walk bringing a grand total of 62 kms walked so I overshot my original goal of 57.  Yay mini challenge completed!!! So this last stretch was dedicated to - Beck Newell
Rebecca Griffiths ~ Jodi Burgan ~ Amanda King ~ Paul McDonald ~ Gay Lee ~ Kelly Lakeman ( of course I had to make sure I walked 1km for myself!!!).

Oh forgot DD12 is away on camp so it's quiet in the house....
Yesterday (Sunday) was also rest day so it's why I didn't make a post and also this morning I took a 'sneak' peak on the scales and woo hoo it looks like I have beaten the 'all you can eat demon'.  I'm down on the numbers even further, the excitment is building for a great weigh in!!!

SUPER Saturday ~ Sat 25th Feb

WELL what a day it's been!!! SUPER Saturday for sure!  Saturdays are traditionally known as our SSS with Mish.  So you are to smash 1000 calories no matter how long it takes!

Today is another hot day here in Adelaide - 39 degree's so I'm sure going to sweat up a storm!

I didn't make it to my PT session today as I had to go to the Chiro.  My back just has one massive knot in it and I feel it's from all the squats and lunges from bootcamp.  I'm not complaining, just making an observation.  No pain, no gain!  Chiro said she can see I am focused and committed and I get to talk to her about food and nutrition as well which really cements in some ideas.

Race up the road to Zumba at the gym and I totally got smashed there.  Lisa is the Zumba instructor for today and obviously a trained dance because that girl has got the moves!!! Lisa's Zumba is far more complex than any other that I have done.  It's sure going to be a challenge to learn some of her routines but I look forward to it!

This afternoon I registered for a 90 minute Zumba class at Zumba with Glitz Dance studio's.  I thought what a great opportunity to burn some calories today!!!  However the class wasn't what I expected.  The invitation just said come along for a 90 min dance party so I thougth how awesome!  However it was more of a beginners learn the steps / basics which was still good to attend as it nailed in place some of the steps and made it clear about others but I certainly didn't burn as many calories as I expected!

I was sweating like a melting icecube and I drank as much water as my body weight LOL.

I was pushing it as much as I can because we had a friend's birthday party to attend again at Charlies - all you can eat restaurant.  So another MAJOR red flag HOWEVER.... I believe I had learnt from last visit so this time I only made 1 plate of roast meal (with no potatoes and nothing else white) and I only had 1 small serve of dessert - apple crumble and small scoop of chocolate icecream.  Also I know I drank nearly 2ltrs of water as the table we were sitting at there was no direct airconditioning and so I was quite warm.  Lucky water is free... tee hee.

Oh forgot there was cake however I don't know where I was when it was being served as I didn't get a piece which is ok because I'm told is was YUMMY! A choc mud cake or mousse or something - either way it was chocolate and so I bet just SMELLING it would have been calories enough for me!!! Tee Hee!

Really happy with my efforts today looking forward to weigh in - although nervous...

Fantastic Friday ~ Friday 24th Feb

Fantastic Friday indeed as today is REWARD DAY!!!

I'm a little giddy with joy this morning as I get to go to my favourite Zumba class at the gym!  It's being taught by Kylie who I haven't had as an instructor yet so I'm excited to see her style!

Long story short she was fantastic.  So much energy and how does she smile through the whole class LOL.  Quite a few verbal directions too which help if your mid movemement you can easily move onto the next one without having to 'stop' to look up.  Keep's the heart rate up and a smoother movement!

At the end of the class I tell her how much I enjoyed it and say she seem's very familar to me so I ask 'were you ever on an add for BodyWorkshop' she laughs and said yes - woo hoo I know someone famous! LOL

Kylie tells me that she's been in the industry for 19 years so learnt how to 'smile' through a whole class LOL.  I hope one day I can manage that!  Hopefully I'm free next Friday so I can come again I really enjoyed the class!!!  I burnt 642 calories and I felt that I could have given more so looking forward to see what I can bring next time!!!

With the workout out of the way it's time to move onto REWARD DAY!!!  I am very close to double digits and did a sneaky weigh in this morning and did see those magical numbers but until Wednesday it's not official.  I also had a scoopon deal about to expire so needed to book in a little treat for myself.

At the hairdressers I get a wash, cut and blowdry and the hairdresser said she would love to straighten my hair - I think wow have you got time??? My hair is naturally curly and so it can take some time and patience which is exactly why I never do it myself!  As the hairdresser is busy I take the time to tell her about my 12wbt journey and how this is my reward.  It feels good to be able to talk to a stranger and explain how I'm taking control.

As it's also a 39 degree day and the hairdresser is around the corner from my daughters school I decide to hang around the shops so I don't have to sit in a hot car.  I go into coles to get the latest Women's Magazine with Michelle Bridges on the cover and also a sweet treat - low in calories and it did taste yummy!

On the drive home I also see this billboard with Michelle on it although advertising to be a PT I thought gee Michelle is EVERYWHERE LOL!!!!

What a great day!

Beach Walk Yay ~ Thurs 23 Feb

All best intensions to get to boot camp today however it just didn't happen.  I think someone took away the 6.15 in the morning cause my phone went off at 5.30 I clicked the snooze button thinking just 5 more mins.  I must have hit the off button because the next thing I know the radio is on for our 7.30am alarm to start our school morning.  Woops!

Oh well I'm not too worried (guilty however a bit) as I have already organised late last night (nothing like the last minute) another beach walk today with Heather.  I'm really looking forward to these 12kms and nothing but air.  Heather and I have become good friends and we talk so much on our walk it's great.

This morning's walk isn't anything too out of the ordinary except me thinking that I was lighter than gravity!  We usually walk on the path as much as we can because the sand has no consitency to it and so it can be quite hard work walking on that sand so to get a good pace we walk on the concrete up the top which overlooks the beach.

We get near somerton park and the path stops so we have to drop down onto the beach for a km or so.  Chatting away and not realising that we haven't gone back up we quickly come across some of the left over pool tides these are ok we can jump over most.  Until we get to one and I don't know what I was thinking. Maybe I was trying to channel Jesus and try walking on water but I totally underestimated the depth of this little puddle.  I stepped in the middle of it quickly to help me leap across to the other side and I sunk!  BANG wet foot, wet sock! Grrr I hate wet feet! LOL

To make things worse when I get to Glenelg to visit the toilet (our walk ritual LOL) the hand dryers are working so I can't even give it a go to try and dry my sock!!! Ohhh I'll have a cry now! LOL  Today's walk burns 965 calories!  I love it! So great!

Today's photo reminds me so much of the beach walk.  As we start we are full of energy and positivity and go 'woo hoo this is great' and about 10 mintues out of Glenelg I think we are never going to get there.  We can sort of see the Jetty but it seems that every step forward I take it takes a step backwards! Hey!!! Who's moving the Jetty???  Then we turn around and start to head back and when we look we can't see the Brighton Jetty! Again someone moved my Jetty!!! LOL

Today's unusual thing on the walk - we see this prawn on the beach (sorry for the picture not being here, the web is doing funny things).  Now prawns and the ocean aren't unusual but the fact that this one is shell-less I'm thinking either someone left part of their breakfast behind or a fisherman had it as his bait OR the prawn is sunbaking naked!  Cheeky prawn!!!

I burnt 965 calories for the day however we were faster again than last time so obviously am getting fitter.  At the end we sit down and enjoy a coke zero today at a bakery and just laugh at the fact that we are even too tired to care that there are sugary snacks behind us.  I still take a photo cause I know you all want to see - sorry it's not the best!

As today's beach walk as you know is 12kms I use it for my Facebook Dedication Walk to - Emma Gartlan-Hay ~ Rebecca Healey ~ Deidre Green ~ Kym Lear ~ Peter Tremlett ~ Tamika AndShaun Simpson ~ Sam Paior ~ Stefan 'Octanic' Butler ~ Karen Wright ~ Kellie Bower ~ Tilly Gurr ~ Chandelle Arthur

Boot Camp & Weigh In ~ Wed 22 Feb

A while ago I bought a scoopon for 30 sessions of boot camp for $30 or some great price (before I joined the gym and of course before I probably read most of the terms and conditions because the only time they run boot camps are at 6.15am)!!!  Errr there's a 6.15 in the morning now??? LOL

But I brave the morning I am up bright and early and I head off to boot camp.  I need to be up early as I am working with a friend at a Breast Cancer stand for Avon today so I figure get up early and get the monkey off my back!

It was pitch black and I nearly didn't find the place.  I met the instructor who was probably younger than me and we had a quick chat but I was dissapointed that he didn't ask more questions about what I have done fitness wise etc.  I guess they don't really care at boot camp but still I really struggled to do a lot of the things he asked because I just wasn't fit enough.  At least he wasn't yelling at me like The Commando!  We did something called the K,K,K,K,K,run.

100 squats, 100 left leg lunges, 100 right leg lunges, 100 sit ups, 100 pushps and 1 K run.  He suggested to break it all up and do 10 of each and then go for a run to shake out the legs.  I did this first and then did 1 lap of the oval (approx 3 laps are 1 km however there also wasn't any line markings on the oval so I didn't know where I was going LOL).  After the first lap I realised I was pretty worn out so decided to just stay put and move through all of the excercises moving through different body parts.

Surprirsingly I finished the sit ups and push ups and 80 of the squats and 60 each of the lunges.  But I did do 3 laps of the oval as he made sure we all did that.  I did enjoy it to some point but dissapointed that more people weren't there!

I also only burnt 332 calories so I guess a lot was toning so I will still take it as a workout!

Took a friend to Flinders Uni to show her the atmosphere.  I would become a student just so it's O Week every week.   I'm clever this time (well also as I didn't want to kill my friend) and we park in the level carpark right near the campus no hills to climb!  When we arrive we were both handed an icecream (they were giving out freebies every day) so we grab it I take a photo to send to hubby but then I opened it and ate it!

OMG talk about a habit.  I should have said 'NO' but I just went into robot mode and picked up the icecream and ate it!  Here is a picture of the culprit!  Hmmm more calories needed to burn this little 'woops' off!!!
Then we take a walk around the we kept getting handed more free stuff (all non food now) so we just take it all and get home to inspect our loot.  Lot's of pens, pads and odds and ends.  We did enjoy our little day out LOL.

In the evening I went to Dance Funk at Blackwood Fitness.  We have the most amazing dance teacher who is just hyper bunny 101 and just never stops but she is fantastic!!!  I burnt 475 calories.  Phew!  Sweaty right there!  Then I drive down the hill superfast to go to ZUMBA with a friend as we have bought a scoopon deal together for 20 classes for $20! BARGAIN!!!

We laugh a bit at our unco and I sweat some more!  It was really stuffy in there.  I burnt 475 calories which I guess I felt a little dissapointed with but I'm not entirely sure of a lot of moves they are doing on the stage so don't feel that I can give it my all as they keep chopping and changing everything!

I weigh in today and WOO HOO a loss of  1.3kgs a total of 2kgs so far - yay!  Super Happy with that!!

Toning Day - Tuesday 21st Feb

Today being Tuesday is toning day so I decided to start with Body Pump.  I'm still REALLY struggling with this class.  I ask the instructor at the end to give me a few more pointers because I'm just not feeling anything with some movements so she suggests heavier weights yet I just can't do other movements.

Oh it's all a learning act but I just wish that I could get it right.  It's frustrating me more than helping so I'm going to give it a miss for a while and just focus on small weights that focus on toning the arms as that's what I care about right now.  Need to get rid of the bingo arms!!! LOL.

In pump I burnt 311 which they say is fine because we are working the big leg muscles... ohhhh there was soooo many squats and lunges and although I might have trouble sitting on the loo tomorrow I'm happy that I got to work the legs.  I am working on my lunges they are getting better I at least have some balance now.

After Body Pump disapointed with my burn I decide to do a back to back class and attempt Fit Box as it's in the same room and I thought 'yeah, let's give fit box a go, how hard can it be'.... OMG... I think I will struggle to type my arms are that sore but secretly I LOVED IT.  I got to box with a complete stranger as a partner and thank god 1.  my partner was female, 2.  she was as unfit as me, 3. she was as hopeless as me. LOL.  However we had a great time and had a great workout.

I burnt 747 calories wow amazing and got to learn some specific techniques for shadow boxing that was good fun.  In between our punching we had to do sprints up and down or a full minute of exercises, sit ups, squats etc and if anyone stopped before he said STOP then you all started again we were warned - thank god noone stopped but that guy is 'take no prisioners' he doesn't care if it's your first class or 100th he expects everyone to give their all.  Quite impressive really!

That's all the workouts I got for the day as DD12 had her school open night meet and greet the teachers so I went to that although I know I would have preferred to go to Zumba!!!
Yeah I know I don't look very hot and bothered but I was sweating up a storm!  ps the top pic unfortunately is not me or my partner just found it on the net LOL.

After the gym I go to visit hubby at uni again so we can have some lunch together.  What's MORE leg work outs than going Up the 'BLOODY HILL'!  I realise the photo doesn't do the hill justice so if you want to check it out in real life.... LOL go right ahead!!!

I must remember to wear my HRM going up the hill and hopefully in a few weeks time I will be fitter and can go faster!!!  My poor hubby helped me up the hill a bit as my legs officially stopped working once I realised what goes down must come back up again (especially if you were crazy enough to park in the top car park right near his office LOL)!
