I can run.... OMG ... ~ Wed 25th April

Two posts in one day I realise is a bit odd but I just had to share my excitment!!!

Firstly I would like to take a minute to pay respedts that today is ANZAC day although I didn't attend any dawn services I am grateful to all those before me who served our country.  My dear grandfather may you rest in peace was a service man and a very honourable one at that!  He never talked much about his experiences and in years gone past stopped going to a lot of the events as his friends would pass away which would make him sad.  His name is on a plaque in the cemetary in Broken Hill - one day I will go back to see it and pay my respects.

Today being a public holiday and without any gym open today we are all home this morning which is rare so we decide to have a special breakfast of pancakes its been a LONG time since we have had pancakes.  I realise we have no cream for pancakes and although it's probably NOT important as I do have low fat yoghurt in the fridge I know that the other's will want cream so I use it as a good reason to walk to the shops just to get the cream LOL.

On the way there I think I should do a small jog just to get the heart rate up and I start running, and suddenly I realise I'm still running, and I'm breathing alright which is a bit odd and I keep saying to myself, I'm still breathing, it's ok, keep going I hit part of the road that I have to cross and there are quite a few cars so I stop and look at my watch and realise that I've been running for 3 mins and 8 seconds.  I take a second look - OMG seriously????

I had a dream last night that I ran for 3 mins and 38 seconds which I thought was odd that I did dream it but thought I'd love that to be me one day!

On the way back from the shops I thought I'll give it another go even if I can only run for a second more I'll be happy!

This time however I also had 2ltrs of milk in my backpack so a little added weight!

I start to run and of course a head wind also starts so I feel like I'm running uphill a little I yell to myself 'come on' and push through I focus on my breathing and saying ok keep going, it's all good, right let's get to the next fence, ok here we are let's get to the next drivethrough, etc I only stop because I notice my shoelace is loose and my shoe is starting to come off so I stop rather than falling over LOL (I'm good at THAT).  I look down at my watch and notice that I have been running for 4 mins and 38 seconds OMG I can't believe it!!!! 

Only 4 weeks ago doing my time trial I still couldn't manage to run NON stop for very long and could only hit 1 min and 8 seconds.

I'm really proud of myself and can't wait now for the time trial next week!  I NEVER thought in my wildest dreams that I would be able to RUN!!! I had it down as a mini goal on my 12wbt page to run nonstop for 2 mins but figured it would be something I would have to train really hard to do.

I haven't done the learn to run program but am now thinking that next round I will focus on it and see how far I can go.

It just goes to proove to me that Zumba is HUGELY responsible for my fitness increasing and positive attitude that I CAN do it and I DID DO IT!!!!!!
